FROMJOHN.TXT Tue 05-10-1994 21:04:52 This file set ICONWK.EXE, contains: 1. ICONWRKS.EXE 2. ICONWRKS.HLP You also need a third (3rd) file VBRUN200.DLL; to run this program. If you don't have VBRUN200.DLL in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM subdirectory, you can download it from CompuServe: 1. MSWORD Forum 2. MSBASIC Forum 3. If all else fails, give me a ring. VBRUN200.DLL is about 200K (archived). I -didn't- include with this file set because most folk have already acquired it to run some other Visual BASIC for Windows program. ICONWRKS.EXE is an outstanding example of plain vanilla Visual BASIC for Windows programming! And... believe it or NO, it has been sitting in my computer for almost a year... undiscovered by me as well as a lot of other neophyte Visual BASIC programmers. The program ICONWRKS.EXE, is a code sample included in Visual BASIC for Windows Version 2.0. But this "sample program" is fully functional, complete with a breath-taking and "knock-em-dead" built in help file, error detection, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Since I own a copy of Visual BASIC for Windows PRO Version 2.0, I can share this jewel of a program with you. What does ICONWRKS.EXE do? Well it displays and edits icons. So if you have a need for it, use it. If you are a Visual BASIC programmer, I know you will use it as using icons for minimized programs, for graphics and for nonsense (my use) are a big part of Windows programming. ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³How to RUN ICONWRKS.EXE³ ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ Since this is a Visual BASIC for Windows executable file, you =MUST= have the file VBRUN200.DLL where Windows can find it. Put VBRUN200.DLL in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM subdirectory. If you already have the file VBRUN200.DLL in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM subdirectory, you can probably run ICONWRKS.EXE (with its associated help file, ICONWRKS.HLP) from any directory in your PATH. If you get an error message, to the effect that Windows can't find one of these three (3) files, load all three of them into your C:\WINDOWS directory. John De Palma on CompuServe 76076,571
